take the network+ exam, linux+ (comptia (c) trust me you will learn alot and make some money while you're at it!!
you should learn about different OS(s)linux,mac and even WINDOWS!
and just by studying 4 the network+ (c) exam you'll learn a lot about that.
also the OSI model, TCP/IP , telnet, ftp ,ssh, pop3. imap, smtp, icmp and netbios
